SEO and Marketing

SEO (Search Engine Optimisation) is the process of improving the quantity and quality of website traffic from search engines to your business website or platform.

SEO involves adding code to your pages and setting up various online tools and integrations with the search engines. This is not a straightforward process, it needs to be done professionally and strategically to work effectively. Most SEO these days does not work effectively because it's either a scam or automated apps or bots - prices may look attractive, but this approach can't work.

Organic SEO is free, essentially, in that you do not need to pay search engines for the calls and clicks through to your site. But you need professional work to ensure your site ranks well and your links appear to these receptive audiences in the first place.

To be effective, organic SEO needs to be set up initially and ongoing work needs to be done (in most cases). A lot of businesses will require some form of PPC (pay-per-click) marketing in addition to organic SEO being in place - though this need not be expensive. To determine what your organisation may require you can read our easy SEO start guide here.

When we build websites we include full organic SEO and work with you to explain how you can drive its ongoing process if you want to be involved with this yourself.

Depending on your business type effective SEO strategies begin from a one-off fee to establish the essential elements and tools required, with us showing you how to manage growth from there, to larger and/or more competitive industries with monthly ongoing packages.

It is important for most businesses to have excellent organic SEO whether they intend to use paid marketing or not. Good organic SEO ensures your website pages appear well in SERPs (search engine results pages) without paying to be there.

This matters even if you plan to pay for marketing - because whenever you pause advertising or are between campaigns you will not list on the SERPs properly unless your organic SEO is in place.

Organic SEO is a slow-burner but so worth it, as once you achieve premium positions it is straightforward to hold on to them. The main benefit being you are not always at the mercy of needing to run ads. Once SEO is established, whether you offer product or a service you can receive dozens of calls and enquiries (more for larger business) without spending anything on ads.

A healthy organic SEO footprint does not require payment for advertising and there are many strategies you can implement to help your site’s SEO in-house. We outline these as part of our process.

But, the foundation of SEO needs to be strategically set up and your business have the primary tools correctly in place for SEO to work productively. SEO must be developed professionally to be effective otherwise it simply won't work!

SEO essentials are coded professionally into each of our website packages and we list all our sites on the primary search engines upon launch.

You can choose to add on more extensive SEO to your package and you can read more about these services here.

As part of all our packages we discuss your options with you, to offer advice for your particular industry and how best to proceed. We cater this advice to whether you plan an organic-only presence or plan to market with PPC (pay-per-click) advertising as well.

Some important considerations on this.

First and foremost you need to work with people you trust. Your agency will be making recommendations and you need to have faith in their process to let it unfold.

Secondly, there's a swamp of agencies out there offering fast returns and low costs where none of what is being claimed is legitimate or correlated to the work required. Most of them appearing to be Australian are not and all these issues complicate choices and decisions.

The third consideration is the agency needs to have experience and proven results with real customers.

Our suggestion, for the above considerations, is to examine the sites and businesses the agency works with (and if they don't make those clear, skip them!). That way you will be able to not only see results but will be able to corroborate reviews to real Australian businesses and people.

From there you need to make sure you can measure what is being done. Statistics should be presented upfront to be later compared with ongoing work, and easy-to-read reports should be regularly provided (reports you can verify with the raw data yourself).

Lastly, beware of fake reviews, they are everywhere these days including Google, all the socials and ones such as Trustpilot, ProductReview, Quora and Reddit. Make sure you verify testimonials and correlate them to real businesses and people.

SEO & Marketing costs will depend on your products or services and on your competitors.

Some of our smaller businesses, who do not have a lot of competition, only require a local Google SEO setup @$550 and a few months of SEO footprint building @ $220 per month. This process works for this group, coupled with some ongoing work done in-house on a regular basis which we map out as part of the process.

Other businesses, including larger ones or smaller ones with more competition, will require their SEO set up and a regular ongoing package. How much you spend on this largely depends on how quickly you want growth and what is affordable for your budget. We offer regular SEO/Marketing packages from $220 per month.

Larger SEO packages are available for corporate and government clients.

As part of our initial consultation process we discuss what options are viable for your business and industry.

All prices include GST.

It is a bit difficult to answer this question as it depends on the industry you are in and its competition, how quickly you'd like to achieve results, and your budget. We list some time guidelines below and will be able to give you a better idea once we have discussed your individual circumstances and requirements with you.

With PPC (paid) marketing you will notice the increase in traffic pretty much as soon as your ads are launched. Organic SEO is a much slower burn - but it is very much worth it - as it sets you up for calls and clicks without needing to pay the search engines.

Getting your business to come up under its name on the SERPs usually takes a few weeks from site launch and is easy to achieve in most instances. Though who you really want visiting are those who haven't yet heard of you. This is where organic SEO comes in and can show promising signs within a few months for most businesses. It will continue to grow over time and in the long run helps businesses immensely.

Getting page 1 results will depend on your position in the market and your competition. Generally we see signs of top and higher rankings around 6 months. A lot of strategy is required to do this cost-effectively and usually we find ways to capture traffic across a network of keywords. This brings in useful and higher results than are more regularly attainable within our clients' budgets and competition.

All our clients with SEO packages have excellent results and rank at the top of the search engines in ways that work for them.

You can view our case studies and review more information about these packages on our pages for small business with low competition, small to med businesses and larger organisations and government.

We understand!

There is a lot to familiarise yourself with when you engage in the process of building your own website.

And we are happy to help!

We have prepared this page of information on some of the initial basics of website development that are important to understand. And we also have a page here which maps out our website building process.

Fair enough!

Things are no longer straightforward in the Australian industry.

Frankly, from what we can tell, most "Australian" web development companies are not doing any effective work for the $ they charge and are clearly facades for unscrupulous (and often overseas) operators.

With all major review platforms compromised it gets harder for businesses to tell who will do their work integrally. (Nowadays Google, the socials and platforms like Trustpilot are all awash with fake reviews.)

Our suggestion is to examine the sites and businesses these developers work with (and if they don't make those clear, skip them!). That way you will be able to not only see results but will be able to corroborate reviews to real businesses and people.

As statistics continue to show, visitors decide within a few seconds whether to leave or stay on your site.

Websites need to look lovely to maximise retention but they also need to be designed professionally with visitor engagement and SEO in mind.

Sites must be fast, easy to navigate and function smoothly to maximise outcomes - and they must be coded properly for SEO to gain effective positions on the search engines.

Unfortunately, despite the enticing prices, productive results are simply not possible with the standard theme layouts or online builders used on most websites today.

Website development costs vary a lot between agencies.

Fundamentally these differences in pricing should be related to the size of your project (how many pages), the scope of your project (what types of pages are involved) and the type of development undertaken (how the website is built).

Our website packages start from $2,420, incl. GST and you can read more about them here.

For our smaller sites the turnaround time is approximately 3-4 weeks on receipt of site copy.

But we can develop sites more quickly than this and if your project timing is urgent please discuss with us upfront.

You will need both a domain name and a hosting package to deliver your emails and website.

If you have not already secured your domain name, please discuss with us first as we can advise you on the best domain name for your business.

If you have decided to create a site with us you can begin the development process by doing one of the following:

We provide workflows to guide our clients through preparation processes but assets you may want to consider in your planning are:

  • Brand Development – logo | brand colours | ethos | taglines & key messages
  • Content Development – content copy | photography & media
  • Website structure and functionality – what are the site pages and menu structure, and what else must the site do?
  • Marketing goals

You can visit our terms and conditions page, here.

Absolutely. All our websites are fully mobile, desktop & tablet compatible.

We work with various software and frameworks though our sites are generally developed in WordPress.

Generally, WordPress sites suit most small to medium sized businesses as the in-house editing capabilities and application integration it allows make it the most cost-effective solution for development, scalability and ongoing management.

But if you are after a small site that you are happy to update in html, this is the most cost-effective option of all as annual ongoing costs are minimal.

If you are after a much larger development then other frameworks will likely be more suitable than WordPress.

The price of a site in general does not relate specifically to the number of pages on the site; it relates to the time spent on website construction.

A site that requires little customisation and functionality can be produced more quickly and at a lower price.

This is reflected in the price of our ‘Pod’ package.

But, if you are a business that requires more customisation and functionality then it will be more time-consuming to produce. In this case you will be better suited to one of the other packages we have.

Additional page prices are separated out into subpages, standard pages and larger ones.

This is because a page can have a small amount of information on it, such as a ‘contact us’ page, or be very large with complex tables or image layouts.

The prices are different for these pages as they differ in the time it takes to create them.

We charge subpages at $220, standard pages at $440 and larger pages are quoted for according to content. All prices include GST.

Do you want to be able to update your site in-house? And if so, to what extent? Do you have web graphic skills or do you just want to be able to update text content?

Or would you rather someone else manages updates for you?

These considerations are important upfront as depending on your requirements and skill set different content management systems (CMS) can be implemented.

We work with most of the major platforms including WooCommerce and Shopify.

Generally, WooCommerce is the best solution in terms of price, functionality and SEO. But there are situations where other platforms will be more appropriate.

Yes, we do!

We include training in some of our packages and we offer various support packages that can be purchased for training as either ongoing support or one off requests.

Yes! All our WordPress and eCommerce sites come with a built-in CMS (Content Management System) and we provide an inclusive training session for most of our website packages.

Depending on your skill level we can set up different CMS products to suit your requirements.

The reason for this is not because we don't want to help but because when we cannot access the server properly, as another group is controlling that, we are prevented from being able to solve things for you without going through them.

In our experience the big hosting companies are extremely unhelpful in these matters and make our clients pay unjustified (and non-transparent) additional fees. This ends up costing our clients way more than it needs to and is unfair.

The worst part about this is most of the errors we try to resolve with these companies are completely avoidable should their servers be set up properly in the first place and appropriate management being exercised.

This has become completely unworkable for development companies like ours over the last decade and hence why agencies, like us, are now moving away from these models.

Each of our packages include the developer support hours generally required to keep your website and backups running smoothly so you don't incur additional costs. Please refer to our hosting and maintenance packages for hours and detail.

Each of our packages include support hours to assist you on your side, such as helping you set up email accounts, website bug support and assisting you in web related matters.

The site management itself is covered by us and not counted as part of your inclusive support hours.

For hosting and support T&Cs, please click here.

Yes. If you host your website with us your support for general website management, security and all updates is already included. Each package also includes developer hours towards bug fixes, email and other web support.

If you do not host your website with us you can purchase support hours for us to assist you on demand.

For hosting and support T&Cs, please click here.

All prices quoted on our website and in our brochures include GST.

Our terms for our website packages are 50% deposit prior to project commencement and 50% on completion and approval and prior to live delivery – for sites up to $5K.

For most of our larger developments payments are broken down similarly or into further progress payments overall.

For our other services payment is required in full upfront.

Payment can be made either via credit card or EFT.
